AAA vs. a Direct Mobile Jump Start
AAA is a membership with a broad roadside network, towing and other benefits. Just Jump USA® is a direct mobile battery service with no membership: jump starts are free in most active service areas. In areas where jump starts are not free, any charge is confirmed before service. We do not provide towing or handle AAA claims, receipts or active requests.

Could your jump start be free?
Check whether Just Jump USA® serves your area. Jump starts are free in most active service areas. Where a jump start is not free, we'll confirm any charge before service.
Free requests are subject to technician availability and are not guaranteed appointments or dispatches. Battery delivery, replacement, and installation are separate paid services.
Save a call when the problem is a dead battery
AAA service-call limits and towing allowances vary by membership and regional club. If a jump start would count against your plan's calls, you can check for a free Just Jump USA® jump start where we're active or jump it yourself when it's safe to do so. Keep AAA for a tow or other covered help when you need it.
What you actually get
AAA's coverage depends on your regional club and membership level. Our mobile battery services operate in active local markets. Neither is a substitute for the other in every situation.
| Question | AAA membership | Just Jump USA® |
|---|---|---|
| How to access service | Join a regional AAA club and request a covered service | Request directly; no membership |
| Jump start | Generally covered within membership benefits and call limits | Free in most active service areas |
| Where available | Broad network; benefits vary by regional club | Active in select metro areas; other listed cities are coming soon |
| Battery testing | Available in many areas; mobile battery offerings vary | Mobile battery testing available; confirm the service you need |
| Battery replacement | Available in participating areas; battery purchase may be extra | Mobile battery delivery and replacement are separate paid services |
| Install a battery you already bought | Ask your regional club about availability | A distinct service in active markets; local terms apply |
| Towing, lockout, fuel and tire help | Among AAA membership benefits, subject to plan and location | Not offered as part of our mobile battery service |
| Insurance claims history | Standalone AAA membership is distinct from insurance roadside coverage | Requesting service directly from us is not an auto-insurance claim |
For exact AAA plan benefits, check your regional club. Battery services other than the local free jump-start offer are priced separately; any jump-start charge elsewhere is disclosed before service.
When AAA makes sense
If you travel beyond our active markets, need a tow, run out of fuel, get locked out or want a wider collection of roadside benefits, an AAA membership may be the better fit. AAA's regional clubs offer different service limits and towing allowances, so check your own membership rather than relying on a national estimate.
When direct help makes sense
If the immediate problem is a dead battery in one of our active markets, you can request a jump start without joining a club or opening an auto-insurance roadside claim. Jump starts are free in most active service areas; where a jump start is not free, any charge is confirmed before service. If you need a new battery, testing, or installation of one you bought yourself, those are distinct services with local terms.
Membership is not the same as an insurance claim
An AAA membership request does not automatically go through your auto insurer. Roadside assistance bundled with your insurance policy is a different path: depending on the insurer, a request can be recorded in a claims-history database such as CLUE. That does not mean every roadside call raises your premium. If this matters to you, ask your insurer how it reports roadside use, and request your own claims report to check what is recorded.

Is a jump start free with AAA?
A jump start is generally included in an eligible AAA roadside membership, subject to your regional club's terms and service-call limits. A replacement battery may cost extra. Just Jump USA® has no membership fee; jump starts are free in most active service areas. Check local terms before requesting service.
What is the AAA roadside assistance number?
AAA lists 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357) for roadside requests. You can also request through AAA's website or app. Just Jump USA® is a separate company and cannot access an AAA request.
AAA roadside: 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357) — membership benefits apply; non-members are typically referred to a local provider at retail rates.
Can Just Jump USA® give me an AAA receipt or update on my AAA driver?
No. For an AAA receipt, reimbursement, driver update, or existing request, sign in to your AAA account or contact your regional AAA club. We can only help with a new Just Jump USA® request in an active service area.
Will using AAA roadside assistance show up on my CLUE report?
An AAA membership request is different from requesting roadside assistance through your auto insurance policy. Insurance-policy requests may be recorded as claims depending on the insurer; a standalone AAA membership request is not automatically an auto insurance claim. Ask your insurer how it records roadside use and check your own CLUE report if concerned.
Which is better for a dead battery: AAA or a direct mobile service?
AAA can be useful if you want towing, lockout and flat-tire benefits in one membership. In our active markets, Just Jump USA® is an option if you need battery-focused help without buying a membership. Availability and scope differ; neither company can guarantee an arrival time for every request.

A real mobile battery call
Do we do a lot of jump starts? Yes.
Watch as our technician helps another senior customer who called needing a jump start in her own driveway. It's one of the most common questions we hear from curious customers: “Do you guys really do a lot of jump starts?” We do. From a professional jump start company, it's a genuinely needed service — because when it comes to cars, every situation is different.
Watch the video from the very beginning and notice where her car is parked: right up against the wall in her driveway, with no room for another car to get through. So even if she had wanted to jump it with a second vehicle — which we never recommend anyway, as we outline in our guide — she couldn't have. There was simply nowhere for the other car to go.
That's extremely common, and it's one of the nuances that exists within our service industry. It's usually not the primary reason people call, but it's a real one — and it's exactly the kind of situation we're able to address professionally, with our own equipment and our own trained team, no second car required.
The rapport you'll see here actually started before the camera was ever rolling. When our technician first arrived, the two of them got to talking — she asked about his name and joked that it sounds like a cowboy's. By the time the video picks up, that friendliness is already in the air, and you'll hear the banter come through later in the video. That's not staged. It's just what happens when our technicians take a minute to be human with the people they're helping. Rapport goes both ways: she started building it, and he met her right there.
Then, towards the end, watch his phone. It might look like he's distracted — he isn't. Another jump start request just came in, and he's acknowledging it on the spot so that customer gets an alert confirming their request has been seen, along with an estimated arrival time. That's the same system working for every caller: someone always sees your request, and someone always responds.
Whatever the reason for the call, we come ready to do the whole job ourselves.
