Mobile Battery & Charging System Testing

Mobile battery testing is when a pro comes out and runs a full electrical check on your car — battery, alternator, and starter — so you know exactly what's wrong before you spend money. It's like a doctor's checkup for your car's electrical system.

Under 15 minutes on-site Available in active service areas On-demand jump start & mobile battery service Licensed & insured

    In plain English

Think of it as a stethoscope check for your car's heart. In 10 minutes we know if the battery is the problem — or something else is draining it.

    What's included

    When you need this service

    Car keeps dying overnight

Usually a parasitic drain (a light, module, or accessory pulling power). We find it.

You just replaced the battery and it's already weak

The alternator may not be charging properly — a new battery won't fix that.

    Slow crank in the morning

Could be battery age, cold, or a charging issue. Testing tells you which one.

Warning lights (battery / check charging system)

Alternator or belt issues. Get a diagnosis before you're stranded.

    4 simple steps

    Frequently asked questions

Why not just get a free test at the parts store?+

Parts store tests are basic voltage checks and only test the battery — not the alternator under load or parasitic drain. And you have to drive there, which you can't do with a dead car. Mobile testing catches the actual root cause.

    What happens after the diagnostic?+

We explain the results and your next steps. If the battery needs replacement, we can install the correct battery on-site.

    How long does testing take?+

Under 15 minutes for the standard battery + alternator + starter test. Parasitic draw checks can take a bit longer.

Can you test the battery in a hybrid or EV?+

Yes — we test the 12V accessory battery in hybrids and EVs. Full high-voltage traction battery diagnostics require dealer-level tools; ask us and we'll refer you.

On campus at FSU, through our official partnership.

This call came through our official partnership with Florida State University's Transportation and Parking Services — Campus Roadside. Through it, our team handles hundreds of service calls a month right on FSU's campus, including specialized service for students at a discounted rate arranged through the university, with the ability to test the battery and replace it on the spot if it's the problem.

This one was in the Pensacola Street garage. The student had been trying to jump-start her car on her own for over 45 minutes before she found out Just Jump USA® was the university's official partner — so we came out and handled it for her.

Watch our technician check the existing voltage first: the battery was reading around 9 volts, where a healthy 12-volt battery should be to actually crank the engine. That's why her dashboard looked perfectly normal — plenty of lights, plenty of power — but the moment she turned the key, everything went dim. The battery was trying to pull a 12-volt start out of 9 volts. You'll see our technician bring the voltage back up to where it's supposed to be, and the car starts right up with no issues.

Then there's an exchange you can hear: her friend explains that they'd been trying to jump-start it themselves and just couldn't get it. The technician's answer (off camera) comes down to one thing — the equipment they were using wasn't rated for the battery in her car. Here's the concept: every battery is rated for cold cranking amps, or CCA — the burst of current it takes to spin the engine over, especially in the cold. A jump pack can be clamped in exactly the right spot and still fail if it simply can't deliver the amperage that battery and engine demand. Matching the CCA required is the difference between "connected" and "started." It's one more reason a professional jump is about the process, not just the clamps.
