Just Jump USA® technician checks the battery voltage and restores power to a service van before resetting its key recognition

Even our service vehicles needs a jump start every now and then.

Watch one of our Florida technicians turn that moment into a demonstration of the process we use on every call. He checks the battery voltage before connecting outside power, then brings it back toward 12 volts.

Watch the dash when power returns: it says “No key detected.” After a low-voltage interruption, a vehicle’s security and key-recognition systems may not immediately recognize the fob. If the doors were opened while the battery was flat, the car may wake up with the door open but without a normal unlock signal; on some vehicles that can trigger a security warning or prevent starting. The exact behavior varies by vehicle.

Then watch the technician press unlock on the key fob several times. That gives this van the signal it needs to recognize the key and clear the security interruption. With power restored and the key recognized, it’s ready to start.

Power alone isn’t always the whole answer. Testing first and checking how the vehicle responds is why we follow a process rather than just attaching a jump box and hoping.

A Just Jump USA® technician jump-starting a senior customer's car parked tight against the wall of her driveway

Do we do a lot of jump starts? Yes.

Watch as our technician helps another senior customer who called needing a jump start in her own driveway. It's one of the most common questions we hear from curious customers: “Do you guys really do a lot of jump starts?” We do. From a professional jump start company, it's a genuinely needed service — because when it comes to cars, every situation is different.

Watch the video from the very beginning and notice where her car is parked: right up against the wall in her driveway, with no room for another car to get through. So even if she had wanted to jump it with a second vehicle — which we never recommend anyway, as we outline in our guide — she couldn't have. There was simply nowhere for the other car to go.

That's extremely common, and it's one of the nuances that exists within our service industry. It's usually not the primary reason people call, but it's a real one — and it's exactly the kind of situation we're able to address professionally, with our own equipment and our own trained team, no second car required.

The rapport you'll see here actually started before the camera was ever rolling. When our technician first arrived, the two of them got to talking — she asked about his name and joked that it sounds like a cowboy's. By the time the video picks up, that friendliness is already in the air, and you'll hear the banter come through later in the video. That's not staged. It's just what happens when our technicians take a minute to be human with the people they're helping. Rapport goes both ways: she started building it, and he met her right there.

Then, towards the end, watch his phone. It might look like he's distracted — he isn't. Another jump start request just came in, and he's acknowledging it on the spot so that customer gets an alert confirming their request has been seen, along with an estimated arrival time. That's the same system working for every caller: someone always sees your request, and someone always responds.

Whatever the reason for the call, we come ready to do the whole job ourselves.

All hands on deck: growing the fleet.

Every so often, a day around here isn't about a rescue call at all — it's about getting ready for the next one. This was one of those days. We purchased an additional van to serve the growing Tallahassee market, and this video is the moment it officially became part of the fleet.

Three people, all hands on deck, applying the signage together. A friend of ours from a local company — the team at Limelight Signs and Graphics here in Tallahassee, Florida — helped bring our name to life on the new vehicle, and we're grateful for local businesses like theirs.

Adding another vehicle isn't just exciting for us. It means more coverage across the area, faster response when calls stack up, and one more fully stocked van ready to test, jump, deliver, and install batteries on the spot.

New van, same promise: when you call Just Jump USA® of Tallahassee, we show up ready to do the whole job ourselves.

A Just Jump USA® technician teaching how electricity conducts to a battery terminal that standard clamps can't reach

Some cars won't take standard clamps. Here's what a professional does instead.

Watch as one of our technicians teaches how electricity actually conducts — and the nuances and strategies we use out in the field, on real vehicles, in real situations.

This specific car is the perfect example. Its jump-start access points are designed in a way that standard clamps simply can't connect to at all. So the technician adapted: he connected the positive clamp from the jump box directly to a screwdriver, then placed the screwdriver on the terminal in exactly the right way to transfer the power from the jump box straight to the terminal.

That's the kind of thing it takes a professional to recognize and execute. Knowing how to complete the flow of electricity safely when the vehicle's design fights you — that's not something you figure out on the side of the road. It's the difference between guessing and knowing, and it's why the call goes to a trained team with the right equipment.

It's reasons like this that we're America's number one jump start service.

On campus at FSU, through our official partnership.

This call came through our official partnership with Florida State University's Transportation and Parking Services — Campus Roadside. Through it, our team handles hundreds of service calls a month right on FSU's campus, including specialized service for students at a discounted rate arranged through the university, with the ability to test the battery and replace it on the spot if it's the problem.

This one was in the Pensacola Street garage. The student had been trying to jump-start her car on her own for over 45 minutes before she found out Just Jump USA® was the university's official partner — so we came out and handled it for her.

Watch our technician check the existing voltage first: the battery was reading around 9 volts, where a healthy 12-volt battery should be to actually crank the engine. That's why her dashboard looked perfectly normal — plenty of lights, plenty of power — but the moment she turned the key, everything went dim. The battery was trying to pull a 12-volt start out of 9 volts. You'll see our technician bring the voltage back up to where it's supposed to be, and the car starts right up with no issues.

Then there's an exchange you can hear: her friend explains that they'd been trying to jump-start it themselves and just couldn't get it. The technician's answer (off camera) comes down to one thing — the equipment they were using wasn't rated for the battery in her car. Here's the concept: every battery is rated for cold cranking amps, or CCA — the burst of current it takes to spin the engine over, especially in the cold. A jump pack can be clamped in exactly the right spot and still fail if it simply can't deliver the amperage that battery and engine demand. Matching the CCA required is the difference between "connected" and "started." It's one more reason a professional jump is about the process, not just the clamps.

Our Orlando battery technician and our Tallahassee battery technician sorting and stacking pallets of replaced car batteries on stocking day; at the end, one acknowledges a new jump start request on his phone

Our Tallahassee team went down to Orlando to help with restocking.

This is stocking and inventory day in our Orlando market — and our Tallahassee location went down to help. It's our favorite day of the month, and it's the kind of thing our locations do for each other: when one market is moving this much volume, neighboring teams pitch in. Every battery you see stacked here represents a rescue — a driver who was stuck, a car that wouldn't crank, a morning that got back on track. This is how many batteries and rescues a market moves through in the course of a week.

What the team is doing in this video is preparing the batteries we've already replaced for return to our supplier. Here's a fun fact most people don't know: essentially all car batteries get recycled. When you buy a battery, your old one goes back to the supplier, the supplier ships it back to the manufacturer, and the manufacturer recycles it into new batteries. So we sort, stack, and get everything together for the supplier — nothing goes to waste.

There are actually two technicians in this video: one is the Orlando battery technician for that area, and the other is our own Tallahassee battery technician, who came down to help with the Orlando market stocking. When one market is this busy, our teams pitch in for each other.

And watch the very end of the video — one of the technicians pulls out his phone. That's not a distraction: it's another jump start request coming in. At the time of this video, that market was averaging around 70 service requests a day, and our technicians are always on call. He taps the green button to acknowledge the request, which sends the customer an alert letting them know he's seen it and will be heading their way shortly. That's the same responsive system our Tallahassee neighbors get on every call here at home.

But look at the volume. Pallet after pallet, week after week. That kind of turnover doesn't happen by accident — it happens because drivers trust a professional service to show up, test the battery properly, and replace it on the spot when that's what the car actually needs. It's the same process and the same standard our Tallahassee team brings to every call here at home.

One network, one standard — and this much volume is what real demand looks like.
